Targo was a Rock Troll who ended up on Sakaar and forced to serve as one of the Grandmaster's gladiators. During an uprising on Sakaar, Targo joined the Einherjar due to his skills as a strong warrior, in which King Thor Odinson made him an honorable member of the League of Realms.
