Doctor Jazuat Heilen is a Swiss medic and member of the S.H.I.E.L.D. medical staff assigned to the S.H.I.E.L.D. Trauma Zentrum in Zurich, where she led the team that attempted to treat Skye after she was shot by Ian Quinn.
Committed to her oath, as well as to preserving life when she could, in the aftermath of the HYDRA Uprising, Jazuat joined a reincarnation of S.H.I.E.L.D. under Phil Coulson, who's saved her and her colleagues with his team when the Trauma Zentrum was besieged by HYDRA agents, helping them regain the facility. Being appointed head of its immediate medical division in the War on HYDRA, Jazuat then was later sent to seek out potential recruits among several old colleagues alongside Elsa Dalmor and James Jopez.
Loyal only to Coulson but having discovered the existence of another faction of S.H.I.E.L.D. led by Robert Gonzalos, Jazuat, knowing the bloodshed that would erupt if the two forces clashed, subsequently infiltrated Gonzalos's faction along with Elsa, James and the eight agents they had recruited, hoping to discover the intent of the faction and alert Coulson whilst continuing to work from within, should Gonzalos prove an enemy, and allow their S.H.I.E.L.D. to take the Illiad. Before the agents could warn their allies, however, the Playground was attacked by Gonzalos's S.H.I.E.L.D. and in the process, Jazuat revealed her true allegiance and rejoined Coulson's followers to fight in the brief civil war that broke out between Coulson's incarnation of S.H.I.E.L.D. and that which was led by Robert Gonzales, during which Jazuat remained loyal to Phil Coulson, but supported the idea of a counterattack against Robert's S.H.I.E.L.D. After peace was made, Jazuat became part of his board of advisors after the two divisions merged to fight HYDRA, representing the doctors and medical team of the entire organization.
As chief medic, Heilen was proceed to prove assisted in tending both to Bobbi Morse after her torture at the hands of Grant Ward, and Calvin Zabo after he was handed to S.H.I.E.L.D., though the latter would later attack, forcing Jazuat to flee from the lab on Coulson's instructions. She proceeded to accompany Coulson to the Illiad, where she provided assistance in treating the injured agents and Inhumans, later theorised that the exposure of Terrigene crystals to the world would cause more Inhumans to gain powers. Her theory proved correct and Jazuat would proceed to assist in dealing with the Inhuman Outbreak, providing assistance in cleaning up the area after an Inhuman appearance, putting her at frequent odds with the Advanced Threat Containment Unit, as well as helping with studying and providing mental healthcare to Joey Gutierrez among with Daisy Johnson. She also worked with Andrew Garner in his physic evaluations before the discovery of him being Lash.
Despite their alliance and seeing the value of the ATCU's gel matrix, Heilen had reservations with working with Rosalind Price and her people, which she disclosed to Coulson and the council. When Operation Spotlight was launched, Jazuat worked with Anna Weaver as head of the stand-by medical crew, tending to Morse and Lance Hunter after their encounter with R. Giyera, then baring witness when Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons revealed their findings regarding HYDRA's ancient origins. Jazuat would continue to work close with Coulson and his immediate officers, along with the Secret Warriors, serving as a doctor to them after battle. She proceeded to help fight against HYDRA, now under the leadership of Gideon Malick, then Hive, helping Simmons in working to discover ways to revert Hive's Primates and inspecting Malick after his capture. She proceeded to participate in the fight against Hive, proving herself a skilled fighter when she had to be, then continued to work for S.H.I.E.L.D., despite feeling less than impressed by their new Director, Jeffory Mace.
