Howard Avery is a skinny scientist who wants to bulk up by taking a formula of his own creation. In the case of Howard Avery, it turned him a gigantic furry monster which is nicknamed the Brute That Walks and had went on a brief rampage until he was apprehended and sent to the Fridge. However, he was released by HYDRA, who had infiltrated the S.H.I.E.L.D. prison during the beginning of the HYDRA War. At the time of the war, Howard joined Doctor Nikolaus Geist's faction of HYDRA.
